Rope Seat Stool

Here’s a project you’ll get “entwined” in. It’s a stool with a woven rope seat. It’s fun and easy to make, and very comfortable to sit on. The trickiest part is the pattern for the rope seat, but George Vondriska will take you through that step-by-step process, so don’t get tied up over it.

If you’re looking for a project to do with kids, this is a great one. It provides an opportunity to do some simple woodworking, and also learn knots like the clove hitch and square knot.

A full cut list for the project is included.

Can you use a more weatherproof rope such as nylon or perhaps cotton clothesline cord. It might make the seat last longer if left outside….

Thank you for your question. George said “Yes, you can use nearly any rope. I’ve made the stools using synthetic rope, cotton and sisal. They all work fine”.

Hello. Yes, you can scale it up or down to meet your needs.
