This plywood top requires banding on three edges. I wanna put a piece of banding on this side and on this side and then across the long edge which will be the front of the top when it's all done. I've got a couple of problems here. One is that if the top has already been cut to perfect size, the plywood part, that would mean I have to cut these pieces to perfectly match that dimension. That's pretty hard to do, to get everything to match up just right. My preferred technique for this is at this stage, the piece of plywood is cut to perfect length. That's the side that these pieces will go against. However, it's still too wide. It's about an inch and a half too wide. These pieces, of course, are also too long. My technique with this will be that the banding on these two edges is gonna go on so that it's just a little bit short of this edge. I don't really care what happens, I'm kinda letting it run wild on this edge. When the glue is dry, this edge will go against the fence on the table saw. I'll do an oversize cut here that cuts banding, plywood, banding that gets everything perfectly flush. That edge goes against the fence for the next cut and that cut I'm cutting to perfect size, once again, cutting banding, plywood, banding. It's gonna look like you did a perfect job of aligning your banding with the plywood and the way you did that is by cutting them all as one big slab.
