Sometimes when you're using the Band saw you need just a little bit of relief from your work. And what I mean by that is sometimes you have a radius that you're trying to turn. That's just a little bit too tight for the blade you have in the saw. So I've got a quarter inch blade in this saw and I'm not quite certain, I'm gonna be able to effectively make this turn with that blade. So what I'm gonna do to simplify it is I'm gonna start with relief cuts. On a relief cut, I'm gonna cut from this edge in just a little bit short of the pencil line. Then as I come back and I follow this curve each of those pieces will fall out. That takes the pressure off of the blade allowing it to swing through that curve a lot more easily. So it's a great preemptive move to make if you're not quite certain that your blade can make the radius. So step one cuts in like this, stay in shorter than the pencil line. Step two, following the curve. Here's how that's gonna work out. This piece is almost done already. Another relief cut here. I can keep making these curves, finish that off. So when you're working on projects, keep in mind the opportunity to come in and make these cuts. And that'll provide a little bit of relief for you and your woodworking projects too.
