Fuji’s D6 Turbine

Finishing can be challenging. And, with all the hours you have in the project, the last thing you want to do is take risks at the finishing step. Fuji’s D6 system takes variables out of the system and allows you to spray any finish you want to spray. Even full strength paint.

Power!

The 6-stage motor on the turbine gives you up to 11-5 psi. Yep, that’s enough to spray paint without thinning it. That’s a lot of power.

Air filtration

The D6 filters in bound air to make sure you have a clean supply. An onboard Check Filter light tells you when it’s time for a change.

Control

With six stages the turbine gives you the control you need to spray watery finishes like shellac, crazy thick finishes like paint and everything in between. The turbine comes with a remote so you can control it from a distance, turning it on and off without constantly walking back and forth.

You put so much time into making your projects and then we get to the finishing step and people get very nervous justifiably about getting a good finish on their projects for me I have found. The best way, the straightest line to get a good finish is to spray my finish more specifically with an HVLP unit like the Fuji D6. With the D6 in particular, there's a lot of great stuff going on that we're gonna talk about HVLP in general, what I like is in this case I've got a turbine, I've got a gun. The turbine is what's providing my air. Because we have it coming from a turbine, not an air compressor, the guarantee is clean air.

There's no oil. There's no moisture in this that can migrate into my finish. So it's one step that really helps us get a good finish on our projects HVLP high volume low pressure that means that when we spray very, very little overspray, great results, easy to get a nice finish laid down. Now the D6 in particular, 6, it's got 6 stages to the turbine. So what that translates to for us is that you're gonna see me spray a bunch of different finishes, everything from shellac which is pretty watery, all the way up to paint, which has been unthinned, has not been diluted at all.

We're gonna push all of that through the gun using the D6 and part of that comes from. With 6 stages we can get high volume high pressure air flow out of this that allows us to atomize even paint in an undiluted form. So taking back to the D6 here, it's already on we can have a look at when we use our different stages and the different settings that we get. All the way up to 6, a feature I really like. It's got a remote.

So when this is distant from me, which is where it's gonna be when I'm spraying. I can control the unit, turn it off and on using the remote instead of constantly walking back and forth when you're in between what you're doing. It's also got a hanger on it. That provides a place for your gun. So Fuji put a lot of thought into this D6 unit.

Let me show you the different ways it can spray, and again we're gonna go from very watery stuff like shellac all the way up to undiluted paint. Let's start with shellac. Shellac is a very watery product, very runny. We'll get that going through the gun. This is a great time to have a remote because it's best to have the turbine away from where you're spraying so it doesn't pick up a lot of airborne stuff.

Being able to control that from the remote is a wonderful thing. No Great coverage, little or no overspray handled shellac just great. Let's look at water-based lacquer next. Next, let's go with water-based lacquer. When the turbine comes on, have a look at the settings on there.

We're now running on number 2. Another great quality application. Looking back at the board the way it was when I started, my preference with water base is to have a base coat of shellac down first then put the water base over the top of that. That's where this one started out. What does that look great?

Paint is next. Next, I am ready to spray latex paint, and I want to say again I poured it from this can into that gun completely undiluted, no additives at all. This time when the turbine comes on, pay attention, it is now on setting 6. You've worked with latex paint. Think about how thick that paint is and the power it takes to atomize that paint undiluted and push it through the gun, get great atomization here.

So with the D66 stages and of course. Lots of stages in between what we use today, so a lot of opportunities to tweak that setting, make sure it's just right to provide the atomization you want to get a really, really good finish on your projects and get that finish looking just as good as the project that you built the D6 is really a wonderful unit.
