Swapping dust collector bags can be a HUGE pain in the butt. Getting the bag in the right spot and successfully grabbing it with the retainer ring can feel like you need eleventy billion more hands. Here’s a solution you’ll be attracted to.
When you’re putting the new bag on hold it in place with rare earth magnets. They provide that extra pair of hands you’re always looking for while you’re doing this. The magnets secure the bag to the metal housing of the dust collector while you get the strap in place. The only thing to watch for is that the magnets don’t grab the metal strap.

Getting the dust collector bag off your dust collector. When the bag is full is easy. The hard part is getting this back on and getting the strap on there and not having the bag fall off and the strap fall over, they're gonna go, gonna go. So an easy solution to this is to do this with the help of rare earth magnets to temporarily all this in place. While we go, here's how this works.
What I'm gonna do to get the bag in place. Then what I'm feeling for is right here. The plastic goes up and then it comes out this way on the horizontal. I'm gonna grab a rare earth magnet and get that there on that horizontal surface. Then come around, make sure I'm still up on that rim.
So same thing there, I've got a vertical, then a horizontal, the rare earth magnet goes on the horizontal. Then I'm gonna do the same thing a third time in the back here, mostly by feel and give that a double check. Now, the beauty of this is I can let go of the bag reach for the strappy strap. So one thing to watch out for here is the strap is also made out of steel. Those magnets kinda wanna grab their, they just did they wanna grab the strap as you're getting it in place.
It's not a huge deal. So the strap is engaged. I'm not fighting gravity with the bag. Make sure it's in the right spot. The staff is in the right spot.
Throw the clamp way simpler when I do this and I'm not like talking to you because I'm doing it. It makes in, in 30 seconds, I had the bag on there with the help of the straps and, or help of the clamps magnets with the help of the magnets. And the big deal is the bag doesn't keep falling off the dust collector while I'm trying to manipulate the strap. So very simple, those magnets make a huge difference.
