Duration:   1 mins

Description

Join George Vondriska on Thursday, February 27th at 11:00 a.m. CT/12:00 p.m. ET for a FREE LIVE event! Are you yearning to turn? Let’s turn a simple bowl. We’ll look at creating a paper joint to fasten the bowl blank to a face plate and how to use the scraping technique to shape the bowl interior and exterior, then later sanding and finishing will be demonstrated on the lathe. Bowl turning is very rewarding and one of the few woodworking tasks you can complete in just a few hours!

I always see bowls turned perpendicular to the grain. Where the grain is parallel to the face plate. Do you ever turn with the grain? Where the grain is facing perpendicular to the face plate? EEE

What glue do you prefer to use to bond the blank to the plywood (with the paper seam) so that it adheres well, but can still be parted easily when you're done turning?
