Tips for Using a Hand Plane on Short Pieces of Wood

Using a hand plane can be a great solution for cleaning up the surfaces of your boards, but using a hand plane on short stock can be VERY challenging. We need to make certain the plane won't hit a clamp or hold down, and the piece being planed needs to be rock solid. Tom's shop-made solution to this problem is very simple.
