No need for a router-based jig, you can create through dovetails on your bandsaw. In this session, you’ll learn about dovetail slope, softwood versus hardwood, and how the jig provides a perfect slope for you every time. A creative aspect of this jig is that you can use any dovetail spacing you want.
You can use your bandsaw as a sawmill, with the right set-up. The jig is simple, and will prevent the log from rolling as you cut it – a huge safety issue. You’ll also learn about blade drift, and how to properly set the fence on your bandsaw to compensate for it.
No fence on your bandsaw? No sweat. If you own a miter gauge, you own a bandsaw fence. That may sound strange, but it’s very easy to turn a standard miter gauge into a bandsaw fence, with drift compensation. This session shows you how.
When you’re only resawing a board or two, you may not want to take the time to determine the drift on your bandsaw blade and set your fence. A single point resaw fence provides a very easy method for resawing, with minimal set up. You’ll love the super strong magnets that hold the jig to the bandsaw table.
Perfect circles, every time. That’s the promise you get from this jig. With its adjustable pivot point, you can set the jig up for any diameter circle you need, and easily make the cut. This jig depends on dimensions from your bandsaw, which will be thoroughly explained as the jig is built. You’ll love having this circle cutter available in your shop.

The bandsaw is already an incredibly versatile tool, allowing you to make cuts no other machine in a shop can do. From sawing logs to doing joinery to cutting fine details, a bandsaw can do it all, and more.

You can take your bandsaw even further by building and learning to use a few simple shop-made jigs. And video class is a great way to learn how to make and use several helpful jigs.

The jigs will make your bandsaw easier and safer to use, and allow you to make cuts you couldn’t make without them.

In this class, George Vondriska will first show you how each jig is used. This includes any set-up information you need to know in order for the jig to work properly on your bandsaw. Once you’ve seen how the jig works, George will show you, step-by-step, how to build the jig. Any specialized hardware required for the jigs is called out in the Class Resource document that you get with the class.

In cases where you need specific dimensions from your machine in order to accurately build the jig, we’ll show you what measurements to take, and how to apply them to the jig.

What jigs?

You’ll learn to use and build five great bandsaw jigs;

  • Dovetails: Allows you to cut through dovetails of any spacing you want
  • Log sled: Use for cutting logs into lumber for you shop
  • Miter gauge resaw: A dirt simple way to make a fence with drift compensation
  • Single point resaw: Use this jig to resaw without doing drift compensation
  • Circle jig: Cut perfect circles, every time, with this jig. Adjust it for any diameter you need

In addition to the detailed video instruction you’ll receive, this Class provides you with some downloadable resources and helpful information to print and keep, including a detailed Class Guide you can follow and use as a reminder for the key points of the class instruction and Class Resource document that will give you added information on the jigs you’ll see in the Class.

NOTE: You’ll receive this Class video instruction in two forms: As on-demand streaming video (in your WWGOA Account); and as a physical DVD, mailed to you.
