Any easy way to tell difference between red and white oak?

I have seen 2 of your videos on sharpening. They both have similar material, but on one of them, when you were discussing sharpening chisels, you had to grind a chip out of a chisel. After grinding the edge flat you set up the grinder to put a 25 degree angle on the chisel. When you did that you used an a tool that I have not seen before to set the angle. It was a brass piece that was a acting as a protractor but it had two "feet" that you put against the grinder. Who makes that tool? Where does one find it?
