SensGard's Zem Hearing Protectors

Scientific Hearing Protection – Noise Canceling Technology Without the Batteries.

Reviewing the SensGard Zem Hearing Protectors Industrialization brought loud noises into a relatively quiet world. The first hearing protection was right at hand: fingers or hands were employed to either plug or cover the ears. These early devices worked OK, but made it hard to work while they were being used. Modern hearing protection has freed up our hands but remains stuck in the plug the ears(foam plugs) or cover the ears(ear muffs) mode. SensGard’s Zem hearing protectors are a revolution in hearing protection design. Instead of blocking the sound like earmuffs and plugs, the Zem redirects sound away from the ear. It’s like a noise-canceling headset without the batteries.

Sound waves follow a path of least resistance. The chambers on the Zem act like extensions of your ear canal. The large volume chambers offer much less resistance to sound waves than your ear canal. Noise naturally travels up the chambers away from your ear. The sound waves are dampened as they pass through an acoustic material in the chambers. Baffles then refract the sound waves so they cancel each other out.

Ever try talking to someone in a noisy shop with both of you wearing earmuffs or plugs? With the Zem protectors, you won’t have to shout as loud to be heard. That’s because the Zem attenuates more sound from 125 to 500 Hz, the frequencies that mask speech.

I have always had a love/hate relationship with hearing protection. Earmuffs do a good job but are big and bulky. Plus, my safety glasses interfere with the seal and degrade the sound attenuation rating of the earmuffs. Foam earplugs protect my hearing, but I can’t pop them in to make a quick cut on a saw cut. Instead, I must wait for the foam to expand into my ear canal.

The Zem combines the best qualities of earmuffs and earplugs: they pop right in, are small and lightweight, and work to cut the noise.

Valerie You can have a look at the SensGard home page and get more information on the product. https://www.sensgard.com/ When you say you need to talk to people on the telephone, I'm not sure how hearing protection will fit in with that. I think that anything you use to block sound will need to be removed while you're holding a phone ear piece to your ear. The SensGard site shows a model with a noise reduction rating of 26 that sells for $29.99, and one with a noise reduction rating of 31 that sells for $39.99. Higher noise reduction is better. You can also call SensGard directly at (877) 208-0883 G

Please advise, I would like to know more about your sound protectors. I work in an aerospace industry. They have just relocated our office into "Open COncept" in the worst area you can imagine. My prinmary problem is the transformers I am surrounded by. I need to talk to people on the phone, etc. constantly. Please, will you get back to me. Will these work for me, and what is the price?
