You don’t have to be an antiques collector or even a baker to appreciate this do-it-yourself version of a classic pie safe.
It features three shelves behind a single door, and its convenient size and simple styling make it a good match for almost any decor. The pie safe measures about 40 inches tall by 21 inches wide by 13 inches deep if you adhere to the pie safe plans.

I am a modest woodworker.
Looking for an interesting project to do.
For Those of you who do not know about pie safes, when I would go to visit Grandpa and Grandma there would be a mouse trap on the door to make enough noise to let people know the door was being opened. I Thank WWGOA for the memory flashback.

pie safe plan
I’m going to make this style, but I have a question. I have a pie safe I acquired that is from the early 1900″s. My problem is that it has been painted over several times, trying to get paint off the tin portions on sides, any suggestions?
Hi James,
Thank you for being patient while I reached out to the experts, here is the reply:
The old pie safe sounds incredible!
I don’t have expertise with paint removal. Whatever method you use, heat, chemical, etc., I’d suggest wearing a good mask because there is likely lead in the paint.
