Variac is a brand name of an adjustible autotransformer. Its job is to lower the supply 120vac, to what works best. IE, if the battery charger has 72volts. Its output has dropped the same ratio as the input. 120/72 =7.2 volts . Life is good.

I’m trying this on a 48” mower deck and I’m not getting the response (bubbling action) from the washing soda solution (4 cups for 75 gallons) as I thought I would. my containment is made of 2×4, 3’x5’x8” with 6mil plastic sheeting inside for the tub. This is a large surface to cover. The amp draw looks like 3 amps on the charger

Remember that acid will eat away metal even without a voltage source (wash and dry tool immediately after), and the wires must be iron, not galvanized or copper.

eBay and Amazon carry carbon rods. Same amperage.as iron rods. How many do you need? that depends on how much line of site coverage is required.
