I want to face glue 4 to 6 boards, 1×6 nominal, 3/4 x 5.5 actual, to make an extra solid block for a wooden book binding press. Is it safe for a joiner to cut the glued ends to give me a square starting point for squaring the entire block in conjunction with a planer?

Same here. Always takes a lot of wood out in the beginning, then fades to nothing. I cannot lower the outfeed table.
