Inspired by the work of legendary woodworker Sam Maloof, this project will show you how to use wood rasps to sculpt beautiful curved joints, and guide you step-by-step through tackling some basic leather work as you weave leather lace to form the beautiful and comfortable seat. The curves and leather weaving might make this bench look intimidating, but it is well within the reach of the intermediate woodworker using the processes laid out in this plan.

I built this and I like it, however I wish I had made some modifications to follow more like the actual maloof chair. I have modified it and plan to make another one soon.

      Hi Thomas,

Thank you for contacting us. Here is the answer from the expert:

The dark wood is walnut and the lighter wood is maple.

          Hello Jon,

Thank you for contacting us. I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with accessing your benefits on your Apple device. I have included troubleshooting instructions below for you to try.

Most Apple devices use the iTunes library to store media files and then associated players to play the media (music, movies, etc.).

          1. In order to get the downloads to your iPhone/iPad, you will need to add the files to your iTunes library on your computer. (Purchasing downloads can be done on any device.)

          2. To add something into iTunes, go to the main menu and select “Add File to Library…”

          3. From there, navigate to the folder where the file was saved to and click on the file to open. This will add the file to the “Home Videos” section of the movies library.

          4. Once the movie files are added to your computer’s iTunes library, you can then sync your device with the iTunes library and then the movies will be available in the “Videos” app on your iPhone/iPad device.

          5. To download these files onto a computer rather than a phone or tablet. These files, more often than not, are over 1 GB in size and can take 15 minutes to download. Cell (or wifi on a mobile device) connections are not as stable and could cause errors in the download process.

If you have any further questions, please chat, email, or contact Customer Service at 1-855-253-0822.

          Sincerely,

Hello Peter- do you mean materials? The PDF does show what tools are needed on the very 1st page. Otherwise it explains that you will need wood rasps and leather.

Hello. I’ve built one from cherry and one from walnut. Both of those were great. With all of the shaping and sanding, I would hesitate to use a super hard wood, as it would take forever to remove all the scratch marks left behind from the rasps.
      Thanks

There seems to be a discrepancy between the plan and the templates. There is no actual template for the legs and the template say only taper one side 3/4 of an inch. The plan infers that the legs are tapered on all sides. Please explain as I’m building this project.
