Ticket 38022 Re counter-top cut offs, what materials require carbide saw, which are ok for regular bandsaw blade?

Thanks for your question. I don’t have experience with cutting countertop materials on my bandsaw. I would suggest inquiring with the blade manufacturer to see what materials are suitable for use with their blade.

I picked up an 8 foot 3/4 in Melanie board to make a sled for flatening boards of the same length through my planer. I noticed that there is a fair amount of board flex over the length. I believe its not an issue providing I have a sufficient infeed and outfeed tables. Is that a correct understanding, or should I be looking at laminating 2 or more boards for increased stiffness?

      Hello Guy,
Here’s what the experts had to say about your question:
I think one layer should be fine as long as you have sufficient infeed/outfeed support.

Looking to upgrade my chisels. Are there any recommendations out there for a real quality set? Looking at a 10-14 peace set with a solid through tang and wooden handles. Any thoughts or recommendations are greatly appreciated!!!

      Hello Bill,

Here’s what the experts had to say about your question:

I’m not enough of a chisel enthusiastic to give you a good recommendation. I love my Blue Marples but they are kind of a middle of the road product overall, and I don’t know if they have a set the size of what you are looking for.
