Question:

How do I remove a large water stain from the dining room table top?

Answer:

Try this trick on how to remove water stains on furniture…lay a dish cloth over the water mark and, with an iron on a low setting, iron over the dish cloth for 30 – 60 seconds. Check the stain. If there’s no effect, increase the heat on the iron and try it again. This often requires the iron to be on the cotton setting to work, but it’s best to start at a low heat and work your way up.

Having a heck of a time with stain bleeding out of sapwood (dark rings) in red oak. What is most successful but not completely, is to stain then wipe off (100pct. minwax), wipe off, wipe on (50 pct. minwax/50pct. minwax tongue oil. I still get a bleed or two of stain from ring spots. Any help?????

I tried this and it works. It took longer than I thought, but it did work. Very hot iron. Clean dry cotton T-shirt between the iron and wood. Makes sense that if there is extra moisture in the wood, heat would draw it out and put it in the clean T-shirt. Anyway, it works like a charm.
