This is such a confusing and poorly organized web site.

Not very logical - hard to locate new videos (not that there are that many). No way for a member to stay logged in. Just not well organized.

George, I love the site but Quark is right, it seems I need to Log In when I go to a different area. Example, I received the Member Email, clicked on it and logged in, I tried to view the Flag Case video and had to log in again, I made a comment about the video and had to log in again. The video was great by the way

George, I could talk to you for days about how primitive your site is. But if you need me to do that, and as a former (retired) CIO I am pretty well qualified to do so, then your problem is already defined.

Your present web site is letting you down and I guess that you are not technically savvy to understand that. I suggest you do whatever it take to update your website - be it talent or technology or both, I won't say.

To put it bluntly - your current web site is about as modern as the American Revolution.

I think you are at least as talented as any of the leading woodworkers in the public view, but you have the least workable web site behind you. A little fresher material wouldn't hurt either. Republishing older material as new is NEVER a good idea.

A word to the wise is sufficient. Wake up and smell the coffee - you should and could have a leading web site by now.

    WWGOA Member,

We appreciate your thoughts on the WWGOA website. Every day WWGOA is working on strategies and new enhancements which will help improve our users’ online Woodworking experience. We have partnered with top technology partners and have a dedicated team of professionals testing and refining all aspects of the site. Since our launch of the new subscription site in April we have already made many changes; however, we know there is more work to do. In the past 4 months we have added NEW video content including 36 video clips, 3 classes, 3 projects and will be adding another Full Length Video this week. We value feedback such as yours and will continue to work for your complete satisfaction.

    Quark,

Do you have an example of a website that you'd consider "modern" and would work for a site such as this? Just curious as to what you consider a 'good' website...

Interesting definition of 'good'. Their home page fails validation with 100 errors and 56 warnings. Compare with 34 errors and 5 warning on wwgoa. (Yeah, I'm picky - just ask my students who got a zero on an assignment for having ONE validation error.) Some elements fail to display properly (text outside of their designated 'boxes'). Overly crowded and narrow fixed width makes it hard to read (wwgoa also appears to be a fixed width but it's wider, helping readability). I could go on but I won't...

Please don't go on! You have nailed exactly what is wrong with your web site. You are talking like a bunch of geeks - I otta know - I'm one of them! But what you need to do is to think like a user. The FWW site works just fine for a user. WWGOA can't even provide a checkbox for me to stay logged in. Your selections are not logical - too confusing to understand your video tree - if, indeed, one even exists.

I doubt you've seen any of my websites...

I do that quite well, which is why....

Quark wrote:The FWW site works just fine for a user.

....I know that FWW isn't that great for a user.

Which login? The forum? The Premium Member area? The Store? (The multiple logins are my primary problems with the WWGOA site.) I don't have to login every time for the forum, but it appears that auto-login expires periodically (I don't login to the Premium area or the store much so don't notice those two).

Seems easy enough to navigate to me - although some of the videos appear to be misplaced (there are two band saw premium videos listed in the table saw section and are absent from the band saw area).

WWGOA isn't perfect but I don't see it being as bad as you imply it is...

Your retorts are as unprofessional as your design. I thought I was offering some useful criticism, but I can see that my suggestions are unwanted. I will not offer any more. Good luck with your endeavours...

I am not going to badger you all about your web Site I will tell you this. I want to sign up for a membership and pay on line. When I input all the required information, I click to pay for the membership and I can't pay because I get a error that says I must have 1 Item in the cart. the page before the payment page says that the membership will be shown in the cart. I have tried this with Fire fox and internet explorer so I know it is not a browser problem.
    Please fix the problem.

Sheesh - you still don't get it. I'm nothing more than another user of this site - I had nothing to do with the design and implementation of the WWGOA site and you have incorrectly attributed my comments to being those of WWGOA. Feel free to apologize to George and the rest of the WWGOA crew for your error...

When I started woodworking seriously at age 62, I ran across some of George's videos. In my opinion George is the best instructor in WW video I have seen. So i was excited when I found WWGOA ..... UNTIL i joined with a premium membership and found the navigation of this site is among the worse I have even seen, I own two websites and do all of my own designs. I look at websites like this and make sure my sites are simple and accurate in design, the complete opposite of this site. I just can't imagine George signing off on a dysfunctional website like this. I emailed support repeatedly ..... and usually got form type responses. For that reason I will not renew my membership and that is sad because I was learning from George.
People like me. need a learning website.

Oh and BTW, I had to rejoin in yet another ID just to post this comment because the site said I was not on file!

rongaebel - Thanks for the input and thanks for becoming a premium member. We are currently in the process of planning upgrades for the site based on user comments like yours. Part of our plans for the upgrade to the site is a single sign on for the free part of the site, the premium side and the forum. We recognize this as being an issue and it is on the top of our priority list. Other plans we are excited for include easier navigation through our library of videos and articles and more content based on users suggestions. Our user base is very engaged and our goal will be to continue to create a site where woodworkers of all levels can come together to learn, share projects, stories and new ideas.

You will start seeing these changes and upgrades in the next 2 - 4 months. Thanks again for your comments and let us know of other ideas to help WWGOA.com remain a top destination for woodworking videos.
