I recently purchased a CMD Glue Joint Bit 855.201.11. I am having a lot of trouble try to center the bit to the thickness of the wood. I can close but, I think it should be better. The difference is not a lot but you can feel it, and it looks like it would take some time to sand down of maybe I might have to plane it even. I am can use all the help I can get. Please help. Thank you for your time! Lippy 16

I checked the CMT site for the bit number you provided, but couldn't find it. I did find 855.501.11. Hope that's the one you mean.

CMT Reverse Glue Joint Bit Instructions can be found here http://www.cmtutensili.com/media/Files/143_356_reverse_glue_joint_bit.pdf. Maybe that will help.

You should be able to get the two surfaces perfectly even. You do need to keep a couple things in mind when using glue joint cutters.

Make sure your test pieces and your project pieces are EXACTLY the same thickness, otherwise your test cuts won't do you any good.

Since you flip the pieces when making cuts, good face down on one edge and up on the other edge, height adjustments you make in the router bit have twice the affect on the face alignment of the pieces. You need to be very conservative making changes in bit height once you get close to the right setting.

Use feather boards on the fence to make sure your material is firmly down on the router table.

    Hope that helps.
