    George,

I see in your videos that you are using the BOSCH sliding miter saw. I am about to purchase a sliding miter saw because I want the ability to make good, wide, square cuts quickly and accurately. I have noticed that many of the sites I frequent, I keep seeing the BOSCH saw and the reviews on them seem great. What model of saw are you using and do you recommend it?

I've got a few miter saws in my shop. The Bosch slider is one, and I also have a 10" DeWalt slider and 12" Hitachi compound miter.

Sorry, but I don't have access to the model number on the Bosch, as I loaned it to a friend of mine for a home improvement project he's working on.

Not to waffle, but I like all three saws. I'm a big fan of a good laser on a miter saw, meaning a laser whose position can be fine tuned to the blade for accuracy.

The new Bosch trunnion-based saw looks interesting, and I'll be doing a product review on that in the next month or so.

I'm in the market as well. That bosch gcm12sd keeps popping up and looks good but expensive.

There were a couple of videos on this site here that looked kind of interesting...let us know which one you decided to go with.

    Thanks

Well, after much online research, trips to Lowes, hand wringing, weeping wailing and nashing of teeth, I decided on the DeWalt DW718. I was able to do a side by side comparison with the Bosch 5312 at Lowes as they had them sitting side by side. The deciding factor for me was the fact that the DeWalt will do cross cuts up to 16" at 90 degrees versus 12" on the Bosch. Also, the DeWalt only needs 16" from the fence to the wall to operate whereas the Bosch was about 26". I reallydon't do very much crown molding and this saw will be set up stationary in my shop primarily to do straight cross cuts. I plan to build a new miter saw station and add a Kreg precision track stop system. I believe I have made the right choice.
