My portable table saw has an odd size slot for the miter fence. I want a better miter fence, but everything seems to be for the 3/4" by 3/8" standards...
Is there something that will work with my saw?

    Hi Anne,

It depends what your needs are, but if the bulk of your cuts will be 90 and 40 degrees, you might make your own in each of these configurations. Rip maple strips to the size of your miter slot, and attach a piece of mdf or 1/2" baltic birch plywood to the strip at the appropriate angle. Attach a hardwood backer board at the rear of the sled, and you are all set.

Or, you might look around to see if you can find iron bar stock to the size of your miter slot, and build using that. That would be better, but I think you will find that you can build a nice one with a maple strip as well.

If you want one that does variable angles, you could make one of those as well. Search around on the net for shop made miter guage and you will find some options.
