&#60;p&#62;It&#38;#39;s not a good idea to send any man made materials through a planer. This includes mdf, particle board, and plywood. While your planer probably will cut them, it won&#38;#39;t cut them for long. These materials are very hard on the planer knives, since the knives are tool steel, not carbide.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;All of these products are, of course, made out of wood, but it&#38;#39;s all that glue holding the wood together that can quickly beat up planer knives.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;If you can find someone with a surface sander, you could thin down your mdf on that.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;If you do this, keep in mind that mdf has a &#38;quot;skin.&#38;quot; The two faces are compressed more tightly than the core. You can see this if you look closely at the edge of a piece of mdf. Removing the skin will reduce some of the paintability that&#38;#39;s inherent in mdf.
