"I am
looking to buy a new band saw and am interested in the Delta
14" model 28-276 at Lowe's. However, I got to looking on the
internet there were some pretty bad reviews most of which were posted about
2005 and I made me nervous. I got to wondering if this was just an
initial problem with a new product or is the saw a dog. From your Essential
Band Saw DVD it looks like you were using this model band saw. If so what
do you think of it? I guess I just need some hand holding on this one."

Editor Response
The band saw I used in the Band Saw
Techniques DVD is a 23-203 that I purchased in about 1993. It has served
me very well. I'm not familiar with the model you're asking about, so
bounced your question off of Delta. Here's their response:
"The
28-276 14' Band Saw is a solid choice for the novice or entry-level woodworker
looking to perform the basic band saw applications of scrolling, ripping,
contour cutting, and re-sawing. DELTA is committed to producing quality
products and continually monitors quality and makes improvements when necessary
based on end-user feedback. All of DELTA's products are backed by a
5-year warranty. A suitable alternative to the 28-276 could be the 28-206
which offers an upgraded 1HP motor and an enclosed cabinet for improved dust
collection capabilities."
