Machinist Vise Tip

Vise TipI love my machinist vise for cutting dovetails in drawer parts.  To keep from marring the stock, I replace the iron jaw inserts with wood ones.  The beauty of a machinist vise over my bench vise is that it holds the drawer parts up high at elbow level; the perfect position for accurate sawing.

I think the SawStop saw is the greatest invention for safety that has ever happened. I think it will save a lot of fingers etc. Great going guys.

I STILL THINK TOILET PAPER HAS IT BEAT. HOWEVER SPEAKING OF TOOLS FOR SAFETY...MY BRAIN IS MY GREATEST SAFETY ASSET. HOPEFULLY SAWSTOP WILL REMAIN A PERSONAL CHOICE AND NOT SOME GOV'T. MANDATE TO PROTECT ME FROM MYSELF. LET THOSE WHO WORK AND USE TOOLS SAFELY BE IN CHARGE OF THEIR OWN SAFETY. lET THE ONES WHO HAVE NO HISTORY OF COMMON SENSE BE FORCED TO USE SAWSTOP.

Where was I when the "brains" were passed out? When I nearly sawed off two fingers on my left hand using my Delta Unisaw because of kickback, I never thought of suing Delta. Guess had I been smarter and laying wood flooring and using a benchtop saw without a fence, I would have thought to sue. That way, the safety folks would have more ammunition.
