New Products » Stanley Sweetheart Chisels

Woodworkers who know hand tools know the name Sweetheart when it comes to chisels. Stanley has introduced, or re-introduced, the Sweetheart line. The new chisels are based on the 750 design, and made from high carbon steel. According to Stanley the chisels will sharpen easily and hold an edge for a very long time. The beveled edges are quite narrow, making it easy to get into tight corners. The hornbeam handle has a wide butt end to help you accurately and squarely hit the chisel.
The Sweethearts are available in 1/8”, 1/4", 3/8”, 1/2", 5/8”, 3/4", 1”, and 1-1/4”. Expect to pay about $30 per chisel, with the exception of the two largest chisels with will be around $40 each. A full 8-piece set will go for about $199.

As always George, your articles are concise and pertinent. However, i would like to know more about these "sweetheart chisels" before I buy one to try: Who has them in stock now? Exactly how much carbon do this high-carbon chisels have? And where is the hardness rating? Some of us prefer softer O1 tool steel for superior edges, even if they don't hold the edge as long as harder A2. Your job is to inform, and I salute you, because you do that very well. Several of your excellent videos and articles have taught me new things, and I read EVERYTHING. Although readers don't always love it, part of your job is to soft-sell new products or your sponsors. Since YOUR readers (like me) are so well informed, we need more technical information AND we need to know where we can buy one for trial. If YOU recommend it George, I am likely to at least buy one for a test, but give us all the facts first please. Best Wishes! Old School
