Rikon Planer/Jointer Combo Machine

Hey, times are tough. Maybe you're carefully watching your checkbook, trying to figure out which tools you can buy. If you want to save some cash and floor space in your shop, consider a combination machine like the new Rikon Planer/Jointer, $799. With its 10" width capacity, it's a little smaller than dedicated planers, but much larger than lots of jointers. Extra width is an excellent benefit when you need to face joint material. Change over from one machine to another appears simple, requiring the release of just two locks.

The cutterhead has three knives, and runs at 4800 rpm. The jointer has a 40-1/2" long table, which is ample. The planer table is 15-3/4" long, which will require infeed and outfeed support on long stock. Material feeds through the planer at 13-1/8' per minute. The machine is driven by a 1-1/2 hp motor that can be run on 110 or 220 volts. This looks like a lot of machine in a compact package.
