Over the years I ve made pet cremation urns and boxes for friends who ve lost pets. In 2010 I had a request from a dear cousin for his own cremation casket. Tissue box covers make great gifts, and they are a great way to use the hoard of small off cuts with cool figure and/or color that I save from bigger projects. I even glue leftover veneer onto 1/4-in multi-ply plywood to make tissue box stock. If you go this route, skip the first two steps that involve resawing and planing the boards. My wife loves the look of built-in furniture and cabinets, so when I finished a family room in our basement I wanted to incorporate some built-in cabinetry. The challenge that I faced in designing this was that the room was relatively small, and we had many items that we wanted to incorporate, so space was at a premium. We opted to go with zero footprint built-in display cabinets, tucked between the wall studs, which met our design objectives and allowed us to use the room space for other purposes. Read More »
